Hey, hey, welcome back. I’m Alex Goad, bestselling author, coach, small business marketing specialist, and today I’m going to do a lightening quick 10 x your life success capsule. Here’s the subject of today’s capsule is how to make sure that every single day is an amazing day. That’s incredibly productive where you’re in the zone and where at the end of the day you really have something to show for it because you have moved along the pieces on the chessboard of the most important goals in your life. There is, there has been substantial, real measurable progress every day. Here’s how you do this. Well, the number one most important thing you need to realize is that none of this is going to happen by default in all of it is going to happen by design. So I’m sure that you’ve had wonderful days in your life and I’m sure that you’ve had not so wonderful days in your life and I’m sure that you also realize that the contrast between the two is immense.
But here’s the important thing is how your average day, is it a three is it a four is it a five? Because if you want to be a high achiever and you want to exact from life the price that you’re not willing to compromise with, you want to get exactly what you want, then you need to get that score up. You need to get into the eight, nine, maybe even 10 out of 10 rail, and the only way that’s ever going to happen is to be unbelievably intentional about everything that you do. So over the years, I went from being a totally aimless, low achiever to be in exactly the opposite. And the way that I did this, or at least one of the most important ways that I did this, is that I created a success ritual for myself that I do every single morning. And that success ritual gets me in the zone and it reminds me that this day counts.
If I don’t do what I’m supposed to do today. Not only am I making out of this day a big pile of nothing, but also I’m setting up a kind of record that’s becoming part of my habits where I’d be, I developed the habit of letting time slip by without creating any real value. And that’s the worst habit of all. They say that youth is lost on the young will. That’s one of the reasons why. So here’s how to make sure that every single day you’re able to make a significant deposit into the bank account of your bigger and brighter future. Step one, you’re going to activate your body. The way that you activate your body is really simple. You need to do exercise and you need to do enough exercise at a sufficient intensity so that you sweat a little bit that water coming off of your forehead.
That’s a sign that your body is working, the juices are flowing, the hormonal profile is changing and nothing else will wake up. Your body, your mind, and your spirit like getting juices flowing in the morning. So for me, most of the time that’s jogging. But whatever works for you is what you should be doing. Just know that you’re obviously not going to feel the same if you don’t do it. Then if you do do it, step one, exercise. Step two is to meditate. So we’ve just activated our body will meditation activates a part of our mind and even a part of our spirit and it makes us quiet. You might think that your mind would be sure should be quiet right when you wake up in the morning, but I found that the, actually that isn’t the case. So if you want to start fresh on a blank slate and you want to decide how your day is going to go for yourself, you need to get all of that stuff out of your head that you didn’t put there intentionally and then you need.
So you need to wipe the slate clean so that you can actually write on it what you really want. So meditate five, 10, 15 minutes, whatever works for you, but you need to include it. Practice to calm your mind and to quiet down all that noise and all of those thoughts. Next step, I recommend that you read a book and I recommend that you do it for seven minutes. Here’s how I do it. I do these seven things each for seven minutes and I actually have a timer I have my phone on and as soon as it rings, I hit repeat so that there was no opportunity to procrastinate, to take breaks, to take time in between. And at the same time, that’s training me to quickly go from one intentional activity to the next intention. That’s the theme of the day. So the third thing that you do is you read and what you should be reading is very specifically something that relates to the kind of higher goals and aspirations that you have in your life at that exact moment.
So if you’re trying to be more spiritual, read something spiritual. If you’re trying to be more successful in business, read a business book. If you’re trying to be more courageous, read about a historical person that overcame their fear and did exceptional things and was very useful. And recognized for that use. Next step journal. I really recommend that you take a pen and a paper in your hand that you can physically feel and just for seven minutes, write down all of the thoughts that come into your mind. Write down how you’re going to make that day great. Write down any obstacles that may come up and write down how you’re going to overcome those obstacles. Anything that comes to mind is a good thing, but the point, the point at that stage in the process is to start focusing your mind and bringing it to engage with that that you truly want rather than to be all over the place.
Kind of grasping it, distractions and little bits and bobs and pieces here and there. Okay, so now we’ve journaled and we were starting to create our intent. The next step is to reconnect with the signal. So I’m a giant fan of Daniel Coyle who wrote the talent code among other books and he talks about the fact that the environment that you find yourself in mentally and physically creates a push or a draw towards what you want to accomplish when you have an environment that pulls you towards what you want and it makes it easier to act with discipline, easier to go the extra mile, easier to feel motivated and energetic. That’s a signal rich environment. So get on the Internet, have a collection of videos that when you watch those videos, it really ups your state and it makes you feel like, I want this, I want to get at it right now.
And that’s kind of the point is to get your energy up and to get your mental and spiritual energy up so that you’re willing and able to fully engage with that day that’s coming in front of you. Next step is to imitate. So what I do is I take those, the spirit of that video, and then I go out in my yard and I teach what I’ve just learned to the trees. That might sound a little bit weird and it certainly looks a little bit weird and I’ve caught my neighbor’s glancing at me with a funny look in their eyes a couple of times, but it doesn’t matter. Here’s what matters is that when you start, when you do that, you transfer that state of signal from the outside environment to the inside environment. Not only that, but when you teach something, the best way to learn something is to teach it.
So teach with high enthusiasm. It’ll be not only a learning opportunity, it’ll make you a better communicator, but on top of it, it’ll really turn you on. It’ll turn your body on, it will turn your mind on and the act of actually speaking out loud and pretending that there’s an audience might even give you a little push of adrenaline among other things. And all of those things are extremely conducive to have a powerful and intentional day. Last step before you begin your day like a tiger, here’s what you do. I call it clear. So the point of that last seven minutes segment is to make it extraordinarily clear how I can best use today, my time, my energy, and all of my resources so that I can work on the most significant thing that’s going to make the biggest difference. And it’s so crucial to identify what that thing is.
Because when you don’t identify it, it’s 99% sure that you’re going to spend your time and energy on something that either doesn’t matter as much or even matters very little or not at all. So when you, when you develop this intentionality, which you realize is that if you spend one hour in your day on the most important stuff that moves the needle forward, that’s worth 10 times spending 10 hours on stuff that actually doesn’t matter. So this is how you get more freedom and more free time, even though you’re more productive and you get bigger results is by being 100% dead clear on what’s the single most important activity that you can do that day to move your life in the direction that you wanted to go. And then to keep that day on track by using tools, apps, journals, agendas, whatever it is that you need so that you put in those blocks of focus time so that you take those steps towards your bigger and brighter future on a systematic manner every single day.
